Retrofit process

Renatus (Latin: “born again” or “reborn”) is our solution to delivering successful retrofit to better the homes and lives of the residents that live in them.

Everybody deserves to live in a safe and energy efficient home. Over 2 million homes in the UK fall below EPC C, and millions across the country are living in fuel poverty and at risk of health conditions associated through mould.

Renatus is wienerberger’s data-led retrofit design and specification service that supports you to upgrade your underperforming housing stock, deliver enhanced tenant wellbeing, energy efficiency, and meet the legislative requirement of all social housing achieving at least an EPC C by 2030. Our experienced team of in-house architects, designers, assessors, and project managers work closely with you to achieve your obligations on time and within budget.

Our end-to-end retrofit service assesses the needs of each property using both in-person surveys and assessments, supported by advanced diagnostics, sustainable materials, and modern design approaches.

The Renatus Retrofit Process

Step 1: Monitoring, Survey & Assessment

We utilise in-person surveys and sensor technology to monitor and identify any issues with the property. This enables us to create a data driven retrofit solution.

Step 2: Design & Specification

Our in-house architectural team will develop a customised retrofit solution tailored to the specific needs of the property to meet the desired EPC rating. We will specify products both inside and outside our portfolio, where relevant.

Because our specification is designed to the right standards, housing associations can access further opportunities such as Tenant Power with Octopus, enabling residents to benefit from cheaper and greener energy.

Where appropriate, wienerberger wall, roof, heating, and water products can be secured through your usual route of procurement.

Step 5: Guarantee & Certification

If our design and specification is followed, we will guarantee the agreed EPC rating. We conduct post-installation testing to verify improvements and issue corresponding certification.
