Frequently Asked Questions

Here you'll find answers to the most common questions about our retrofit solution, designed to help social housing providers meet energy efficiency targets and improve tenant wellbeing. From funding support to performance guarantees, we’ve covered the essentials to help you understand how Renatus works, what it offers, and why it’s a trusted solution for scalable, data-driven retrofit.

Renatus means “born again” in Latin. We chose this name for our offer as we give a new lease of life to existing properties through cost effective retrofit measures, designed to meet the necessary EPC certificate.

Yes. Wienerberger connects providers with specialist funding advisors to assist with the complexities of funding applications.

Yes. Renatus is purpose-built to help social housing providers meet or exceed EPC C standards. We guarantee that we will meet the EPC rating agreed with the client when the Renatus Design and Specification Package is issued.

Sensors are installed to track performance indicators such as heat loss, humidity, indoor air quality, and tenant comfort—providing transparency and proof of performance.

Absolutely. Every home is different and that is why we treat every property on a case-by-case basis, as opposed to designing by architype. Whether you're upgrading a small number of homes or your entire housing stock, quality and performance is guaranteed throughout the Renatus process.

wienerberger is the world’s largest brick producer and leading supplier of clay and concrete roof tiles in Europe, with over 200 production sites across 30 countries. Through our sister brands, FloPlast, Building Product Design, Maincor and Pipelife, we can offer products and solutions for the entire building envelope, and our expert team of in-house architects, technicians, designers, and assessors are able to design and specify solutions that meet your retrofit challenges.

wienerberger is collaborating with Liverpool John Moores University (LJMU) in a pioneering “living lab” initiative to instill trust in it’s data driven approach to retrofit. The University is performing a study on three houses from different eras (1920s, 1970s, 2010s) that have been retrofit as part of the Renatus process, capturing real-time data on energy, humidity, temperature, U-values, and more, to measure performance. Expectedly, the results show a marked improvement in the thermal and operational performance of the three homes, meeting the agreed EPC certificates.

By improving insulation, airtightness, and energy efficiency, households require less energy to stay warm, lowering bills and reducing the risk of fuel poverty.

Yes. The process is designed to be minimally invasive, with careful planning and scheduling. We work with you to provide clear communication with tenants to help manage expectations and reduce inconvenience.

By drastically reducing the carbon footprint of existing housing stock through energy efficiency upgrades and integration of renewable systems, Renatus supports national Net Zero housing goals.
